Popcorn Movies
I have an leaning for what some call “Popcorn Movies”. The Urban Glossary defines “Popcorn Movie” as:
1. A summer activity flick, not monumental, a nice waste of time. Van Helsing was such a popcorn movie.
2. A movie is guaranteed to be, “eh”. One that is reliable not to win any awards. One only goes to see it as an exoneration to eat popcorn and other junk rations with friends. Sometimes with the intention of insulting it afterward.
Also, a movie that is too advertised in theater previews that you get the soup of popcorn in your mouth when you see the commercial on TV.
Person 1: Oh wow, Fred Clause looks like such a popcorn movie. It’s common to be so stupid
Person 2: Yeah, but what else are we prevalent to do Friday night?
Actually 1: True. We might as well.
Both are valid definitions of the popcorn movie, but I do the feeling the need to disagree with two points:
1. Van Helsing was not a movables waste of time. What started as an stimulating premise - an homage to the classic Prevalent studio monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein’s Ogre, The Wolfman, etc.) - lickety-split turned into one of the worst films I’ve ever somehow sat through without flourishing mad like Sam Neill’s capacity fitting, John Trent, in John Carpenter’s “In the Door of Madness” (once a good waste of nonetheless).
2. My existence would have to reach the unimportant of being completely meaningless and I would have to be one motion from swallowing a cup of dish cleaner before I would spend a Friday evening watching Fred Clause.
Ethical wanted to let that be known.
Nevertheless, I do dig a good popcorn movie. My DVD gathering contains the requisite amount of cloud snob favorites, but they are outnumbered by the number of embarrassed pleasures I return to customarily and without shame regardless of year or character.
